Brothers Paul Van Doren and Jim Van Doren along with partners Gordon Lee and Serge Delia opened for business at 704 E. Broadway in Anaheim, Calif. on March 16, 1966. The Van Doren Rubber Company was unique in one key aspect was it manufactured shoes on premises and sold them directly to the public.
Since that day Vans has become an icon in the sneaker and related apparel industry in the arenas of skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and BMX. They also sponsor many events and teams in the fore mentioned sports.
DESCRIPTION AND FEATURES:
The Primary Check Old Skool, the Vans classic skate shoe and first to bear the iconic sidestripe, is a low top lace-up featuring sturdy suede and canvas uppers and a checkerboard pattern. It has re-enforced toecaps to withstand repeated wear, padded collars for support and flexibility, and signature rubber waffle outsoles.
